Helping Families Grow in Christ

About Us

Families in Christ (FIC) is a state-recognized church-related ministry organization made up of friends who are centered on the Living Christ and focused on sharing family Life together. The mission of FIC is to inspire and equip families to really draw close to one another and people in their church, in order to raise Godly children who do not conform to the patterns of the world but reflect the living Lord.

Families in Christ Ministries (FIC) began in 1999 as a ministry to families and later became a cover church-organization for HomeLife Academy. The law states that church-related schools be operated by a “denominational, parochial, or other bona fide church organization.” FIC is the bona fide church-organization. FIC is a vision which God gave us over ten years ago to help families with marriage, parenting, and other needs in way of moving us all to grow in Christ. FIC has been listed with the state of TN all these years and is a covering for HLA but only recently has God began to stir us to look at how FIC can begin to grow and help homeschooling families more, as well as other families. We just recently launched this new website and look forward to where God leads us.

Q: Does HomeLife Academy require church attendance or signing a statement of faith?

A: No. However, we are a Christian school, believing that Jesus is the ONLY way to eternal life: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). We believe the good news (that there is eternal life for those who have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ) is for everyone. Therefore, we do not exclude anyone but we DO ask that every student and parent-teacher agree to a Code of Ethics.

Why do you not require a statement of faith and are there any religions that will be turned down?

For us it is simply a means of serving (Eph. 6:7-8 ), like giving a glass of water to those in need. Jesus said to give a glass of water to those in need, anyone in need is implied. If someone comes to our door and needs food we’re not going to say, “Well, are you a Christian? Because we only feed Christians in here.” No. Being followers of and believers in Christ means that we are most interested in serving as Christ would, in whatever the circumstance. That is the spirit of our decision not to require church attendance or the signing of a statement of faith.
